Kesan Pertama Begitu Menggoda, Selanjutnya Terserah Anda
Beberapa hari terakhir ini aktifitas ngeblog saya sempat tersendat-sendat. Kesibukan offline benar-benar menyita waktu, tenaga dan pikiran saya. Waktu 24 jam seakan berjalan sekedar lewat saja.
Just sharing, saat ini saya sedang menangani seleksi penerimaan karyawan baru di tempat saya bekerja. Nah, ada cerita menarik terjadi. Berikut cuplikan salah satu wawancara yang saya handle:
Agus (A) : “Bisa jelaskan gambaran singkat tentang diri Saudara?”
Pelamar (P) : “Saya ini ya begini, Pak! Seperti yang Bapak lihat.”
A : “Terus…”
P : “Ya sudah, itu saja…”
A : “Saudara melamar untuk posisi Cost Analyst, apakah Saudara bisa mengoperasikan Excell?”
P : “Agak-agak lupa sih, Pak. Maklumlah, sejak lulus kuliah lama nggak pegang komputer. Tapi nanti saya diajari kan Pak?”
A : (Gubrak…!) ….??????
Itu adalah salah satu situasi yang terjadi kemarin. Memang tidak semua pelamar ‘memalukan diri sendiri’ karena ada beberapa pelamar yang qualified dan berkompeten di bidangnya.
Dalam hubungannya dengan dunia blogging, ada dua hal yang dapat saya pelajari dari wawancara kecil tersebut.
1. Bersikaplah sebagai seorang yang mampu, maka tanpa terasa kita telah menjadi mampu dengan sebenarnya.
Kalimat tersebut saya petik dari salah satu seminar MTGW di stasiun televisi swasta. Bukan berarti kita bersikap sok tahu tentang semua ilmu blogging di mata newbie. Tetapi dengan mengatakan bahwa kita mampu, secara otomatis kita akan ‘dituntut’ menunjukkan kemampuan terbaik yang kita miliki. Kalau belum tahu, kita dituntut untuk belajar supaya menjadi master di bidangnya.
2. Bangunlah personal branding sejak awal atau tidak pernah sama sekali.
Saya teringat tagline salah satu iklan parfum: kesan pertama begitu menggoda, selanjutnya terserah Anda. Hal ini masih berhubungan dengan kalimat nomor satu. Dengan memiliki personal branding yang kuat, kita akan lebih mudah menambah jaringan (link) untuk kesuksesan bisnis internet.
Bisa dibayangkan apa yang terjadi bila sejak awal bertemu sudah dianggap tidak berkompeten di bidangnya. Bukannya calon pembeli yang datang, bisa-bisa hujatan orang lain yang telah merasa dirugikan oleh ulah kita.

Utk point pertama, klo ga salah sm2 dgn MH, jd top komentator blog JS. Ada newbie koment / tanya, jawab aja. Berasa yg punya blog, hahaha… Tapi darisana scr ga langsung sdh memposisikan diri spt yg mas mksd.
Akhirnya dpt jg traffic dr newbie yg mengira kita2 master jg. Terpaksa deh, upgrade diri biar ga keliatan tong kosong.

Justru saya menemukan nilai kejujuran pada diri si pelamar. Bagaimana kalau dia tetap mempertahankan ego dan mengaku jago excell hanya demi mempertahankan personal branding yang excellent. Si pelamar ini menampilkan personal branding yang sederhana, jujur, dan apa adanya.
Mas Agus, saya sering menyeleksi para pelamar untuk duduk di beberapa posisi di kantor saya. Saya akan menaruh hormat pada pelamar seperti ini yang jujur dengan kemampuannya. Biasanya ada kata-kata yang membuat saya sebagai pewawancara terkesan.
"Bapak, saya memang tidak terlalu menguasai Excell secara keseluruhan. Tapi saya yakin dengan kemampuan saya bahwa itu semua bisa saya pelajari dan kuasai dalam waktu singkat. Dan jika bapak tidak puas dengan kinerja saya, sayapun siap untuk mengundurkan diri!"
Nah, ini menunjukkan kalau si pelamar memiliki kejujuran, integritas, percaya diri, dan daya juang. Biasanya saya langsung note dan ternyata selama ini orang-orang seperti ini yang bisa bertahan dan berkembang di tempat saya bekerja.

Bagi saya pribadi, akan terlalu riskan kalau mengadu untung dengan menerima calon karyawan yang tidak memenuhi standard. Bidang kerja saya adalah Franchise Makanan cepat saji yang membutuhkan mobilitas dan enerjik yang tinggi. Laporan/vendor harus di update tiap periode sesuai harga pasar.
Kecuali kalau mas Budhi orangnya super sabar dan mau menunggu sampai dia benar-benar mahir di bidang ini.
Pengalaman sy pribadi, dalam memilah, membidik dan menguji karyawan diawali dari "foto terbaru" para pelamar. Dari foto saya bisa melihat mana yg dominan otak kanan, kiri, tipe belajar, karakter, kelebihan dan kekurangan. Dari foto itu saya juga bisa memilah2 mana2 yg memiliki karakter/mesin diri yang cocok dengan job yg akan diamanatkan. Ibaratnya kita seleksi "kodrati" fisik dan metafisik diri setiap pelamar. Bukan apa2 banyak sarjana tapi kodrati mesin nya Pentium I, tapi banyak juga yang hanya tamat SMA, tapi kodrat mesin nya Pentium IV. Sy lebih mementingkan mesin daripada gelar.
Manusia seperti komputer, ada yang Allah kodratkan terlahir sbg pentium I, ada yang pentium II, ada IV. Msing2 mempunyai hak dan kedudukan yang tidak serupa.
Banyak sekali sy liat putra2 daerah yang hanya ijazah SMA, tapi mesin nya pentium IV. SEbaliknya banyak sekali sarjana walaupun S2 sekalipun yang kodrat mesin diri nya hanya kelas pentium I atau II tapi karena punya duit dan kuliah maka jadilah dia seorang sarjana, seperti saat ini saya sedang mengacak2 karya ilmiah seorang dosen S2 yang minta bimbingan 'content' penulisan. Lha saya heran, orang seperti ini kok bisa jadi dosen ???

Saya bingung juga dengan orang yang diwawancara semacam itu. Sepertinya tidak ada percaya diri, bisa jadi bermaksud ingin terlihat merendah, atau sebaiknya menganggap kita rendah.
