Membangun Personal Branding Melalui Nickname Facebook
Saya prihatin menyaksikan perkembangan Facebook akhir-akhir ini. Banyaknya kelonggaran yang tersedia membuat semakin mudah saja kita mengganti nama panggilan (nickname).
Sehingga muncul nama-nama aneh yang membuat saya tertawa saat membacanya. Misalnya: Andy Juragan Juwet, Nat Cewek Banget, Chooey Nggak mau Chendili, Giri Girang Banget dan seabrek nickname palsu lainnya.
Kalau tujuan Anda membuat akun Facebook hanya untuk bersenang-senang, ya nggak masalah. Mau pakai nama apa saja nggak bakalan dituntut ke meja hijau. Bahkan kalau Anda terobsesi ingin jadi artis, mengaku-ngaku sebagai aktor Hollywood pun bisa.
Tapi bila Anda seorang blogger dan berharap mempunyai karir panjang, sepertinya Anda harus berpikir dua kali kalau mau gonta-ganti nickname. Selain terkesan blogger moody, hal ini akan berdampak buruk bagi imej yang bersangkutan.
Memakai nama asli dalam dunia online mempunyai banyak manfaat lho. Diantaranya:
1. Menghargai usaha orang tua mencarikan nama anak.
Saya pernah pengalaman naik bus menuju Surabaya dan duduk bersebelahan dengan seorang ibu hamil. Saat itulah lewat PKL yang menjajakan aneka jenis buku. Nah, si ibu muda tersebut rupanya tertarik membeli salah satu buku tentang nama-nama indah dalam agama Islam.
Saya iseng-iseng bertanya kenapa sampai butuh buku panduan segala. Dia menjelaskan ingin memiliki putra dengan kehidupan yang baik lewat nama yang disandang. Selain membeli buku tersebut, suaminya bahkan meminta bantuan seorang Kyai untuk mendapatkan nama yang bagus bagi calon bayinya.
Dalam peribahasa Jawa, saya mengenal kalimat “Asma Kinarya Japa”. Nama kita menentukan rejeki. Karena dalam nama tersimpan do’a yang diharapkan bisa terkabul dalam kehidupan nyata.
2. Lebih mudah diingat.
Coba sekarang Anda bandingkan, lebih mudah mana mengingat nama Dima Aiwo Saghasite Queiro atau Agus Siswoyo? Saya jamin Anda akan lebih mudah mengingat nama yang kedua. Narsis dikit boleh dong. Hehehe…
Nama asli orang Indonesia umumnya pendek dan mudah diingat. Jadi, kalau sudah ada yang simpel, ngapain cari yang sulit?
3. Lebih dipercaya orang.
Contoh nyata adalah penjual VCC Dewi Palupi yang sampai saat ini masih menimbulkan pro dan kontra dalam kalangan pebisnis internet tentang layanan Paypal-nya. Kalau saja sejak awal beliau menjual dengan memakai nama asli, mungkin nggak akan seheboh ini.
Dan saya melihat inilah salah satu nilai unggul mas Hengky (selain service tentunya) dibanding ketertutupan identitas asli Dewi Palupi. Siapa pun tahu wujud mas Hengky itu seperti apa, jenis kelamin, umur, karakter, alamat rumah bahkan sampai status pernikahannya.
Silakan dipikir lagi kalau mau pakai nickname Preman Blogger, Blogger Remaja, Blogger Bonek dan sejenisnya. Asal jangan menyesal kalau prospek lari ke affiliate lain…

Dan saya bangga, karena nama saya itu pusaka dari orang tua.
(Meskipun saya suka JUWET, tapi saya tak akan menggunakan nickname “maniak juwet”)

Emang benar…tergantung tujuannya, klu membuat fb untuk menunjang keberhasilan dunia usaha emang perlu membuat data2 fb yang profesioanl dan menggambarkan usaha tersebut.
